Author Bio

Veronica was born in the lovely city of Montego Bay, Jamaica. She attended Montego Bay Infant School at the age of four and later moved on to Barracks Road Primary School, where she sat the Common Entrance Examination and was awarded a place at Mount Alvernia High School.

After high school, Veronica was uncertain about her future, as her parents did not have the financial means to send her for further studies. She spent some time selling Adventist Christian literature, but soon realized there was still more she was meant to do. With no money and no clear path forward, she applied to the HEART Trust and was placed at Montego Bay Community College to pursue Business and Accounts. Although accounting was not her strong suit, she persevered.

Within a few weeks, HEART contacted her again, informing her that they had secured a job placement for her at Dias Seventh Day Adventist Primary School in Hanover. She was given a choice: continue her studies at Montego Bay Community College or accept the position as a trainee. Without hesitation, she chose the job.

After one year at Dias All Age School, Veronica decided to follow her dream of becoming a teacher. In 1988, she entered the halls of The Mico University College, the oldest teachers’ college in the Caribbean. Her time at Mico became the best years of her young adult life. She graduated in 1991 and secured her first job as a trained teacher. This journey led her to the lush hills of East Rural St. Andrew, Jamaica, where she worked as a librarian at Mavis Bank Secondary School.

Within four years, Veronica met and married the perfect man—perfect in spite of, and perhaps because of, his imperfections. She was blessed with two beautiful daughters, Melvernique, her eldest, and Veronique. Through motherhood, she came to understand the deepest joys and sorrows of life. She marveled every day at her children—innocent, fragile, and in many ways reflections of herself. They are the joy and pride of her life, gifts from the Creator, the ultimate giver of gifts.

Veronica continued her academic journey at the University of the West Indies, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Library and Information Studies. She later completed a second Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology at Barry University. She currently works as a librarian and is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Information Systems Management at Northern Caribbean University.

In her free time, Veronica enjoys writing poems and prose. Her writing awakens her consciousness and motivates her to strive for excellence. She is deeply passionate about creating real-to-life stories through poetry and prose. Her dream is simple yet profound: to be the best version of herself. Writing poems and stories is one of the ways she brings that dream to life.
