Robert Schopmeyer

Mr. Schopmeyer was a computer designer, designing very large mainframes for Univac, and then
Minicomputers for University Computer and Computer Automation. He then went on to design computer chips for MMI, AMD, and, finally, microcomputers for Convergent Technologies. After taking part in several start-ups, Mr. Schopmeyer founded Veritools, Inc., an EDA software company for electronics engineers. On a return trip from a Japanese computer software conference on February 11, 2001, and after reading and analyzing material that the al Qaeda terrorists had written, Mr. Schopmeyer concluded that these terrorists were planning to carry out a massive al Qaeda terrorist attack in the US. He ultimately concluded that this attack had to be aimed at destroying the WTC towers using hijacked aircraft. Using his pilot training to estimate the time required to train the pilots for this attack, he estimated they would be ready to carry it out by September 1, 2001. After concluding that the aircraft that were going to attack the WTC towers were departing from Logan Airport, he flew from San Francisco to Logan Airport on September 8, 2001. He concluded that they were going to have 10 terrorists going through this airport carrying 4-inch knives to be used in the attack, and that one or more of these terrorists would be out at Logan Airport surveilling the security points to figure out how to get the knives through without notice. When he did not see the terrorists at the airport on September 8, 2001, it made no sense. And if he then went to the FBI with no concrete proof and only speculation, they would have rejected his analysis immediately.
One hour after the South Tower collapsed, he called the FBI to explain how he and his company of about 25 employees knew about the attacks on 9/11. The FBI ultimately interviewed him multiple times to understand how he had found out about the attacks on 9/11 months before they took place. After attending the 9/11 Public hearings on April 13-14, 2004, and hearing CIA Director George Tenet lie multiple times, he decided to write about his experience on 9/11 in a book called ”Prior Knowledge of 9/11”. In 2019, Christian Amanpour interviewed Lawrence Wright on PBS and told him, ” You’re perhaps the most knowledgeable author on the al-Qaeda terrorists and the attacks on 9/11. We know that 3000 people were murdered because the CIA did not give the FBI the information on Mihdhar and Hazmi. Do you know why they withheld that information? Wright said that he did not know why the CIA withheld this information and did not know of anyone who did. Mr. Schopmeyer, after having written ”Prior Knowledge of 9/11,” already knew exactly why they had withheld this information, and decided to write the book, “The Secrets of 9/11: Why the CIA and FBI HQ allowed the attacks on 9/11,” so the people in the US would finally learn the real truth behind why this information had been withheld from the FBI.
