The Dark Secrets of Woodruff County: A Search for Justice

STORY SYNOPSIS

The Dark Secrets Of Woodruff County is based on the book of
the same name and is the real life story of Author Kent Handy
and his struggle to seek justice for his family.
The script opens with the family house ingulfed in flames. A
younger version Kent in his early twenties is assaulted by a
fireman who allows the house to burn as fusing to administer
water. An older Kent awakens from the nightmare that has
plagued him for three decades after his younger brother exits
the house dropping to the ground in tears. Kent steps outside
to grab the morning paper and reads a on the front page about
another police shooting of an unarmed black man. Kents wife
ask him why do he bother torturing himself by reading such
stories resulting in him stating he would be canceling the
newspaper.
Kent retreats to his study and attempts to turn his book into
a screenplay. an entire day passes with Kent struggling to
get past the title of the script. Kent comes to the
realization he has no clue about writing a screenplay and
decides to reach out to an old friend. The friend introduces
Kent to an undiscovered screenwriter and he agrees to help
Kent to adapt his story into a credible treatment.
Kent begins telling his story from the beginning from when he
was a young boy at the age of five. Young Kent grew up with a
young couple named The Milans as his mother struggled to find
work. Kent’s mother, Paula Armstrong struggled to make ends
meet but always found a way to provide for her family. Along
the way, Paula becomes involved with a man of a shady nature
who has an affair with the wife of known member of The
infamous Ku Klux Klan. This careless act sparks a chain of
events resulting in the senseless murder of five innocent
children at the hands of race haters and the grand cover up
by two separate police departments a pathologist and fire
department.
