Kenya McDonald is a teacher, poet, writer, and painter. She was born in Bronx, New York, but raised in Detroit, Michigan, the third oldest of six girls. After graduating from Cody High School in Detroit, Kenya went on to pursue degrees in literature. Next, Kenya has won several awards for her poetry, including the Lance F. Jeffers Creative Writing Award from Talladega College. Her work has been featured in a magazine entitled The Spectrum from Northeastern University and various online magazines including The Spectrum and Viewless Wings. She has also been a featured poet for a Brockton, Massachusetts based virtual podcast entitled, “Everyone Has a Voice.”
