You’re Not the Boss of Me: Discover Your Authentic Self

[real3dflipbook "https://94853394.delivery.rocketcdn.me/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/9781956780451.pdf"]

As we age and grow from the time we are born we become pulled into the net of “should,” “don’t” and “can’t.” We lose the true nature of ourselves as the picture of our personality is painted by others. At some point, we must take back our lives and awaken the possibilities that have been long buried. In You’re Not the Boss of Me, author Alma C. Lightbody provides a one-step-at-a-time guide to help you see your life from a new perspective. Using personal examples from her own life, Lightbody shows you how to take responsibility for your choices, find your own truth about what really matters to you and stand up for what you believe. This manual presents definitions and information about how influences from various stages in your life imprint and mold your personality and discusses how your body speaks to and communicates with you. It can also help you to understand the energetic and physical systems that support you, as well as guide you through the charts of possibilities. You’re Not the Boss of Me leads you to think your own thoughts and have your own opinions to help you be healthy and happy.

A sister’s perspective – Darlene Salisbury ne-Lightbody. By Darlene Salisbury I am writing this review about ‘You’re Not the Boss of Me”, written by Alma C. Lightbody. Alma is my sister – when she told me that her book was about ‘Discovering Your Authentic Self’ – I told her “I know who I am, I don’t to read that book.” Well let me tell you I was in for a few surprises. First of all it is one thing to read a self-help book written by a stranger, it is quite another to read about experiences in your own family. After I read Alma’s description about our family relationships: loving, kind, laughter, parents always there for us. This was the imprint of family life my sister and I grew up with. So, it was very shocking when we both went through difficult divorces and discovered there was a different world out there. After reading Alma’s book a whole new revelation hit me. I was never meant to be the happy housewife wearing an apron and greeting her husband at the door. I had to be tough and sometimes ruthless to raise three children on my own struggling to make ends meet. I began to appreciate that my children were raised in an entirely different way than I was and that it was OK. A realization that hit me hard after thirty years of feeling guilty. Alma’s book helped me to know that I did what I could and I am what I am. My philosophy in life is to be kind to my children and grandchildren and to share my sense of humour inherited from my father, I used to pretend I didn’t like Country music and now I sing it at the top of my lungs! Thanks Alma, as always you have helped me along my journey. Love Dar
